The 5th Art Auction East Africa was a smaller, intimate event due to the size of the venue at the Dusit D2 Hotel, Nairobi. With increased international telephone bidding from regular buyers of Africa art, the auction sales increased from previous years and there was heavy bidding on some new artists’ Lots.

The auction is now firmly established as an important auction in Africa as a source for excellent East African art, still under represented in other African and European auction houses.

For the first time, we featured a selection of Modern Nigerian art which was very well received. All artists sold with the Twins Seven Seven fetching almost Ksh 1 million. Other stars of the night were Xenson, Yony Waite, Geoffrey Mukasa, Tingatinga, Ablade Glover and Peterson Kamwathi.

The 5th Art Auction East Africa took place on 12 March 2018. 85% of Lots sold for a total of over Ksh 21 million (USD 200,000).
