Ronex Ahimbisibwe was born in Rucence in Uganda. Ahimbisibwe graduated from the Margaret Trowel School of Industrial and Fine Arts at Makerere University in Kampala. He continues to live and work in Kampala. Ronex Ahimbisibwe is a semi-abstract, multi-media contemporary visual artist who creates a diverse range of artworks from paintings and sculptures to photography, digital art, woodcut prints and mixed-media installations amongst others. His artworks are created from a wide range of materials including wood, bark-cloth, paper glues and resins, oil, fibre-glass and various metals and fibres. Ahimbisibwe often explores themes that are considered taboo within Ugandan society.

Ahimbisibwe describes his artwork as a quest to discover his own capabilities, strengths and doubts by tapping into the magic of the subconscious. He believes that creativity should not be limited by style or rules and norms and has no boundaries, and that his work as an artist has become a self-portrait.

Ahimbisibwe is the recipient of the prestigious KLA ART 012 International Award and the ArtExpo New York Award. Ahimbisibwe has exhibited in eleven solo exhibitions, and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Uganda and abroad, including Kenya, Tanzania, Egypt, Germany and France, amongst others.
